Date: 20 April 2019
Location: Taman Tugu
As part of their team building and Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) programme, more than 50 employees from Carigali-PTTEPI Operating Company Sdn. Bhd. (“Carigali”) and their families celebrated Earth Day by volunteering their time to assist us in creating a rainforest by planting forest cover along the Phase 2 trails. Forest cover is needed to further balance the ecosystem and stabilise the ground by holding the soil thus preventing erosion as well as absorbing excess water preventing the trails from being muddy.
The session started with a briefing of the Taman Tugu Project, team exercise session, followed by a 3-km guided forest trail walk which included ‘plogging’. Halfway through the walk, the team had a pit stop at Taman Tugu Nursery and joined a bit of the Taman Tugu Earth Day celebration. After the guided walk, the team and their family members planted about 70 forest shrubs along the Phase 2 trails. The session ended with a picnic at Khazanah ILMU Bungalow. The Carigali team expressed their joy and support towards the project and are grateful for this forest in the city and for having the opportunity to contribute towards it.
We hope sessions like these will create a sense of ownership and care towards Taman Tugu and other green spaces and act as a platform for people to be exposed to nature and value it. These efforts are for them and we hope that by getting them to spend more time with nature, it will make them guardians of it.
We would like to express our heartiest gratitude to Carigali for their donation in support of the Taman Tugu Project and conservation of public green spaces.
