Venue: Mercu UEM
First and foremost we would like to thank all the participants of the competition and the finalists for contributing towards the Taman Tugu Project and for attending the briefing session today. The enthusiasm portrayed by the participants is very heart-warming and infectious.
During the briefing session, we gave further clarity on the Taman Tugu Project and its 4 components: the Taman Tugu park, the connectors, Khazanah ILMU and the National Heritage Trust, Amanah Warisan Negara (“AWAN”). After which, we called in the finalists one-by-one to advise them on how they can further improve on their designs before the final judging round, scheduled to take place early 2018. The improvement points were given by the shortlisting panel made up of practitioners and representatives from Khazanah Nasional Berhad.
Three winning designs from each category (bench and gazebo) will be built and placed throughout the park. Whilst the finalists upgrade their designs, there will be an exhibition of the designs from the Top 20 finalists. This is a chance for the public to vote for their winning designs. The public votes will contribute to the final judging round. The dates and venue of the exhibition is yet to be confirmed and will be updated on the website.
Finally, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Institute Landscape Architect Malaysia (“ILAM”) for collaborating with us in organising this competition and for supporting us along the way.
