In keeping to our commitment of not displacing the current residents of the Taman Tugu site, we have thus far signed Memorandums of Understanding (“MoU”) with the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (“ISIS”) Malaysia and Persatuan Perkhidmatan Tadbir dan Diplomatik (“PPTD”). The MoUs are meant to provide interim comfort to the residents that they will be able to continue to use the space responsibly. MoUs will also be signed with Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan representing the Surau-Jumaat and a Committee overseeing the Hindu Temple.
ISIS Malaysia occupies a colonial building formerly residence of the late Tan Sri Mohd Noah bin Omar, the first Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat and a founding member of United Malays National Organisation (“UMNO”) party.
PPTD operates out of a small clubhouse meant for meetings and social gatherings. There is also a restaurant on the premises which is known for its delicious fish head curry and fried “kampung” chicken as well as a lively lunchtime atmosphere.
The MoUs are a prelude to a Definitive Agreement which will be signed once the establishment of the Trust has been finalised and transfer of the land into the Trust completed.
