Syzigium chloranthum trees in Taman Tugu
Syzigium chloranthum tree is an indigenous rainforest tree amongst the 4,100 trees added to the Taman Tugu site, selected in collaboration with Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (“FRIM”) and Malaysian Nature Society (“MNS”).
This tree is a medium to large-sized tree that grows up to 60m tall and 154m in diameter.
The wood is commonly used in medium to heavy construction such as joinery, beams, and rafters.
These trees grow on lowland forest and in undisturbed mixed dipterocarp forests, usually along or near rivers and streams on alluvial sites at elevations up to 1,200m. These trees are native to Malaysia and Indonesia.
