Wild Yellow Kandis tree is an indigenous rainforest tree amongst the 4,100 trees added to the Taman Tugu site, selected in collaboration with Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (“FRIM”) and Malaysian Nature Society (“MNS”).

Physical Features
The wild Yellow Kandis is an evergreen tree growing up to 33m tall and 23cm in diameter. The stem has white to yellow latex. The leaves are simple and oppositely arranged, penni-veined and glabrous. The flowers are white-yellowish colored, about 9mm in diameter that are placed in leaf axils. The tree produces yellow-orange-red fruits that are fleshy berry with seeds.

Usage
The young sprout leaves are used as a vegetable.

Habitat
These trees can be lowland forest, often on clay-rich soils in mixed dipterocarp forest and on shale ridges and are very common in Malaysia and Indonesia.
