Date: 6 February 2018
Venue: Khazanah ILMU Bungalow
Today, we hosted a delegation from Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan (“KWP”), Unit Kerjasama Awam Swasta (“UKAS”), Jabatan Penilaian Dan Perkhidmatan Harta (“JPPH”), Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (“DBKL”) at the Khazanah ILMU Bungalow which is currently being used as our project site office.
The purpose of the visit, chaired by KWP Deputy Secretary General (Planning & Development), Ybhg. Datuk M. Noor Azman Bin Taib, was to obtain an update on the Taman Tugu Project including getting a first hand view of progress on the ground. The delegation expressed their satisfaction on the progress of the project and are looking forward to the Phase-1 completion scheduled for early-Q4 2018. Phase-1 includes the Surau Jumaat Community Area, Hindu Temple and circa 20-acres of a forest park site with trails which will be accessible to the public.
We also discussed key steps moving forward in finalising the transfer of the 66-acre Taman Tugu Park and the recently announced additional 25-acre land adjacent to the current site into Amanah Warisan Negara (“AWAN”).
AWAN is a National Public Trust established to own, manage (operate), monitor and maintain the 66+25 acre land, and all buildings and assets (facilities) within the site excluding Khazanah ILMU. Whilst the 66+25 acre Taman Tugu park site are the first assets to be transferred into AWAN, the longer term objective is for this public trust to potentially undertake more projects that involve the rejuvenation, rehabilitation and/or operations of selected public spaces together with heritage assets of national significance as inspired by the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty or commonly known as the National Trust UK.
