Date: 6 & 7 June 2017
Venue: Tower 2 KLCC
The Taman Tugu Project team held a working session with Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM) over 2-days at the Khazanah Nasional Berhad office in KLCC. This workshop, amongst others, is an element of community engagement in ensuring input and feedback from various parties are taken on board in designing a successful urban forest park.
The president of ILAM, Assoc. Prof. Lar. Dr. Osman Mohd Tahir, was one of the participants from ILAM who provided his thoughts and feedback on ways the park can be enhanced or improved.
Some of the feedback from ILAM were incorporated to improve the design of the park, for example:
- The Rainforest Education Centre has been removed as the backdrop of Tugu Negara. The Rainforest Education Centre is now part of Khazanah ILMU – the learning and innovation centre that will be located in the park
- Components of the park have been ensured to not duplicate components from surrounding parks/ facilities (i.e Taman Botani Perdana)
- The theme of the playground will be more rustic and blends in with the forest
- More resting areas (i.e gazebos and benches) have been added to the master plan
This workshop is one of the knowledge-sharing platforms used to ensure the new public space is equitably built with the public’s interests in mind.
