Madrasah Bustanul Ulum Taman Tugu is now operating

Date: 18 December 2020
Location: Taman Tugu

We are elated and proud to announce that Madrasah Bustanul Ulum Taman Tugu (“MBU”) (i.e. the New Surau-Jumaat at Taman Tugu) is now operating under the purview of Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (“JAWI”).

An agreement was signed with JAWI on 11th December 2020 with regards to the operations of the New Surau. The New Surau’s very first Friday Prayers was successfully held on the 18th December 2020. Hats off to the MBU Working Committee who coordinated the prayers well, as they always have since the early days of the existing Old MBU. Moving forward, the Working Committee will continue to be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the New Surau under JAWI’s supervision.

Historically, the Old MBU is a Surau-Jumaat that has been operating for more than 50 years now. Originally, as a small Madrasah for the use of the Government Quarters community, it has now grown into a Surau-Jumaat that caters for the Muslim office workers around the vicinity (i.e. from neighbouring Bank Negara and Jabatan Kerja Raya, etc.). It is our sincere hope that the New Surau will continue this legacy into perpetuity, insya-Allah.

We would like to take this opportunity to record our highest gratitude to JAWI and the MBU Working Committees for operationalizing the New Surau and hope to continue working together towards the betterment of the community.

For those who would like to visit and perform their prayers at the New Surau, we strongly urge to adhere to the current Social Distancing SOPs as recommended by the Majlis Keselamatan Negara and all relevant authorities while you are present at the New Surau.
