Date: 28 June 2018
Venue: Project Site Office, Taman Tugu Nursery and Forest Trails
We hosted a walk with the Institute of Landscape Architect Malaysia (“ILAM”) at the Taman Tugu project site which was attended by 25 ILAM members including ILAM’s President, Assoc. Prof. LAr. Dr Osman Mohd Tahir.
We have previously partnered with ILAM in organizing the Taman Tugu Greenovation Bench and Gazebo Design Competition which was launched last year. The competition is an idea-based design competition for innovative benches or gazebos that will be located within the Taman Tugu park. The winners will be announced by Q3 this year.
The day began with a briefing session at the project site office followed by a tour of the Taman Tugu nursery and the forest trails. ILAM members are very supportive of the project and expressed their joy with the way the park is turning out. Some even commented that they could not imagine a place like Taman Tugu exists in the midst of bustling Kuala Lumpur and are grateful that an initiative such as this to conserve and preserve a green lung is being undertaken. They are very much excited for the completion of the overall park.
The session ended with ILAM leaving a permanent green trace in the park by the planting a young Merbau tree measuring about 1.5 metres tall in the forest trail.
About 1.5kms of the forest trails, Surau-Jumaat Community, Hindu Temple and Park Maintenance Office will be opened to the public by Q3 this year. The rest of the park will be completed by end of next year.
We continue to commit to hosting engagements and weekly tours for the public. If you are interested in joining us for a weekly walk or would like to participate in volunteering activities for the project, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
